What is EBT?
Electronic Benefits Transfer or EBT is an electronic card-based system that allows a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participant to pay for food using SNAP benefits. It is similar to a debit card where their SNAP EBT account is debited to reimburse the store for food that was purchased.
Cash and food stamp benefits are directly deposited into electronic benefit accounts which can be accessed using a PIN number. The card can be used at a SNAP-authorized retail store as well as at ATM machines and point-of-sale (POS) terminals.
Currently, EBT is effective in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Guam.

How to use EBT at Ralphs?
The EBT card works in a similar manner as a debit or credit card. You can use the regular card reader at a cashier’s register or a self-checkout. If there are any non-eligible items in your order, you can split it in two ways: first, using your EBT card, and then, using your debit card, credit card, or cash.
Since Ralph’s accepts EBT for pickup and delivery, you can enter your card information when you are placing your order online. If you are eligible for cash benefits in addition to or instead of SNAP, you can get cash back with your EBT card at the register during checkout.
